Dental insurance is an excellent benefit, but it can be complicated to make sense of. Deductibles, co-pays, exclusions, and annual limits – what does it all mean? And how does it apply to your dental treatment?
Our team will be happy to check your insurance benefits and let you know how they apply to your treatment. We want you to have the answers to these questions and help you get the most out of your benefits. We submit all claims electronically, which speeds up the turnaround time. We also submit a predetermination of dental benefits to aid in the timing and budgeting of your treatment and help you avoid any unpleasant surprises.

We are pleased to accept CareCredit at our Azle, TX dental office. CareCredit works like a credit card for your dental care and many of your health and wellness needs.
You apply for CareCredit as you would for any other credit card, however, rates of acceptance are high, and approval usually takes only minutes. The benefit of using CareCredit is that you can get your treatment done today and pay the balance off over time.
Once you are approved, you select a length of time to pay off the balance. In most cases, this is 6, 12, or 18 months. You will have a small, manageable monthly payment, and if you pay as agreed, CareCredit won’t charge you any interest.
CareCredit has helped many of our patients get the essential care they need to maintain a healthy smile. Once you’re approved, you can also use CareCredit to pay for Lasik and other vision care, hearing care, cosmetic treatments, dermatology, and veterinary care for your pets.
If you would like more information about CareCredit, please call Eagle Mountain Family Dental or apply directly at CareCredit.com.
A lot happens during your first appointment at Eagle Mountain Family Dental! As a new patient, we need to gather information about your general and oral health as well as the medications you take. Many medical conditions complicate your oral health, so we need to see the “big picture.”
Once we have your comprehensive history, Dr. Bateman will talk with you to define your expectations and desires for treatment. He’ll discuss past dental experiences you’ve had to understand how we can give you the best experience possible.
- Soft tissue evaluation – Dr. Bateman checks the tissues in the lips, tongue, mouth, throat, face, neck and salivary glands for signs of enlargement.
- Oral cancer screening - performed on every patient at every exam
- Periodontal evaluation – includes a screening and noting any areas of concern.
- TMD screening – check for problems with the TMJ (temporomandibular joint)
- Hard tissue exam – evaluate teeth for signs of decay, fracture, wear, or teeth grinding.
- Occlusal (bite) evaluation – check to see your teeth come together when you bite down
- Digital x-rays as needed for diagnosis
After your exam, Dr. Bateman will propose an initial treatment plan, and a member of our team will help you arrange future appointments as necessary. We will also discuss how your insurance benefits apply as well as financing with CareCredit.

You can always turn to the team at Eagle Mountain Family Dental if you have an emergency. We know that when you’re hurting or you have a situation like a broken tooth, you want relief, and you don’t want to wait.
Our goal is to be here for you whenever you need us, so we always leave some extra time in our schedule for our emergency patients. In many cases, we can see you the same day, especially if you are in pain. Some of the dental emergencies we handle for our Azle, TX patients are:
- Toothaches
- Broken teeth
- Lost crowns
- Infected root canal
- Severe tooth decay
We perform emergency root canals and extractions if needed. In some cases, however, we may not have time to complete treatment the same day. If we need to schedule you for the next day, Dr. Bateman will make sure you’re comfortable by prescribing an antibiotic or pain medication to provide relief.
If you’ve chipped a tooth, have a toothache, or have any questions about a particular concern, please don’t hesitate to call us. Our goal is to be available to you when you need us, and we are happy to help.
Preventive Dentistry
Occasionally, yes. We can’t treat what we can’t see, and we won’t guess about your oral health.
Digital dental x-rays (radiographs) are images of your teeth that Dr. Darin Bateman uses to evaluate your oral health. Visual dental exams at our Azle, TX dental office are essential and help Dr. Bateman to detect many problems. But they only tell us what’s happening on the outside of your teeth. The problem is that most dental problems start to develop inside your teeth or under your gums, making dental x-rays invaluable for giving us the big picture.
How are Dental X-Rays Used?
Digital x-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior of your teeth and gums. This information helps Dr. Bateman identify problems like cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and impacted teeth.
You are exposed to much less radiation with digital x-rays than you are with traditional film x-rays. Since the images they produce are digital, Dr. Bateman can share them with you on your chairside monitor. He can adjust the contrast and enlarge or rotate the image, so you have a clear picture of what is happening and why we recommend treatment. Keeping you informed about your oral health is one of our priorities because it allows you to make more confident decisions about your treatment.

Root Canals
At Eagle Mountain Family Dental, we recognize that dental anxiety is a significant problem that many of our patients face. For your comfort, Dr. Bateman is trained and certified to provide safe sedation including nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and Intravenous (IV) conscious sedation.
Nitrous oxide is a time-tested solution for calming patients during their procedure. It’s been safely used for over 100 years and is even mild enough to use with children.
Also called inhalation sedation, nitrous oxide is a slightly sweet-smelling gas that you inhale through a small, comfortable nasal mask. In just a few moments, you will start to feel very calm and relaxed. You may feel euphoric, and the sights and sounds around you will seem far away. The goal of nitrous oxide is not to put you to sleep, although you may feel drowsy. The effects of nitrous leave your body quickly so that you can drive yourself home from your appointment.
With oral conscious sedation, Dr. Bateman prescribes a calming medication that you should take about an hour before your appointment. Oral sedation is heavier than nitrous oxide, and Dr. Bateman recommends it for patients with more intense anxiety. The medication will make you feel very calm and relaxed, and some patients do fall asleep during treatment. This medication stays in your body for several hours, so you will need someone to drive you safely to and from your appointment.
With IV conscious sedation, an IV is placed in your hand or elbow and medications are administered to make you relax - often times a patient falls asleep during the appointment. A side effect of this medication is amnesia, so often times patients forget the experience. You will need someone to drive you safely to and from your appointment because this medication also stays in your body for several hours.
We want to help you get the comfortable dental care you need and deserve. If you would like to learn more about sedation dentistry at our Azle, TX dental office, please call us at (817) 444-3890.
